﻿<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><iati-activities version="2.02" generated-datetime="2026-06-01T00:00:00"><iati-activity hierarchy="1" xml:lang="en" default-currency="GBP" last-updated-datetime="2026-06-01T00:00:00"><iati-identifier>GB-CHC-285776-ARM044</iati-identifier><reporting-org ref="GB-CHC-285776" type="21"><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></reporting-org><title><narrative>Emergency Assistance for People of Nagorno-Karabakh - Armenia </narrative></title><description><narrative>On 19th September 2023, Azerbaijan released yet another large-scale offensive against the people of Artsakh (aka Nagorno-Karabakh - NK), in deliberate violation of the international law and Trilateral Statement of November 9, 2020. Literally the whole territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, Stepanakert and other cities and settlements came under intense and indiscriminate bombarding. The intensity of the violent has pushed growing numbers of the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh (comprising 120,000 people, including 30,000 children, 2,000 women, 20,000 older persons) to flee to Armenia. The population has been facing severe hunger, malnutrition and deprivation of all essential needs. 

Additionally, Thousands of families have been separated and There are many people including children that are missing since the start of the attacks. Until now there is no information on many of them whether they are killed, kidnapped, or arrested by Azerbaijan. The Office of the Human Rights Defender and other relevant state bodies of NK received more than 600 calls and requests to find their missing family member and relatives.

The Armenian Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs have conducted a need assessment and has all the full report. Also, A rapid donor mapping is being conducted to identify the resources that could support the Government in this humanitarian crisis. 

The displaced people in Armenia need urgent assistance specifically food, hygiene items, bedding, and warm clothes; the wounded, the elderly, and pregnant women need emergency medical assistance and psychosocial support.  Armenian Caritas in on the ground and has already started operations in the Provinces of Vayots Dzor and Shirak have provided some support to the people in need, Humanitarian aid distribution to hundreds of households in Syunik province will start soon.
