Over-pumping has led to pervasive seawater intrusion. Underdeveloped wastewater storage and treatment facilities result in the releasing of large quantities of untreated sewage causing further groundwater contamination. The blockade has banned, or delayed, the import of construction materials and spare parts to repair the collapsing water and sanitation network. Agricultural fertilisers are causing an increase in the levels of nitrate in the groundwater beyond recommended levels, which can be fatal to infants. Prices for purchased desalinated water are high and place additional financial strain on many households: those who cannot afford it turn to alternative sources which may be unsafe.

Existing problems were significantly exacerbated by the war during the summer of 2014 (Operation Protective Edge) in which 20-30% of water networks were damaged. The worst hit areas are those areas within the Israeli-declared 3km no go zone during the ground invasion. Communities with chronic WASH deficiencies are particularly vulnerable to disruptions in service provision.

The public health risk resulting from unsafe drinking water intake, and unsafe disposal of sewage and household solid waste, is greatest in the densely populated urban areas of Gaza. Children are particularly vulnerable: diarrhoea is the main cause of morbidity, particularly among under-threes. Women are charged with caring for their families’ health and wellbeing, but have very limited control over resources and are almost entirely dependent on their male relatives.

The project proposes to address the issue of access to good quality drinking water for these vulnerable groups through the following interventions:
1)	Provision of reliable, good quality drinking water through the installation of domestic reverse osmosis (RO) units and water tanks to 100 of the most vulnerable female-headed households and to 25 kindergartens most affected by the war.
2)	Provision of health information and of best health/hygiene practices to kindergartens, mothers and educators which will further assist in avoiding the risks of disease and in improving child health and safety.

Being provided with effective control over family water resources, and an understanding of practical preventive measures to safeguard their families’ health, has proven during previous projects to build the women’s confidence and will be continued here.

been given the name “Bedayia” (meaning “Start” in Arabic). It follows on from Gaza Risk Reduction and Mitigation (GRRAM), a one-year disaster risk reduction project conducted with groups of women in 10 target communities in Gaza, during which they were helped to map the hazards facing their families and communities. The main hazard identified repeatedly was poverty and unemployment, which makes everyone in Gaza more vulnerable to anything else that might happen. Other high priority hazards were poor public services (water, electricity and waste disposal) and military incursions.

CRS will now work with six of the original 10 GRRAM communities to empower them effectively to mitigate the risks of their priority hazards and vulnerabilities. The vulnerabilities of communities and households will be addressed in two ways:

The number of displaced people in Gaza is currently estimated to exceed 454,000. They have found shelter in around 90 temporary shelters, including UNRWA shelters, public schools and other informal shelters including in host communities. Temporary shelters are not able to meet minimum SPHERE standards; they normally have capacity for 500 people, but are currently serving an average of 2,800 IDPs per shelter. CAFOD partners warn that the lack of power and access hinders water service providers’ ability to operate and maintain critical water and sanitation facilities. There are insufficient sanitation workers in place, and the risk of disease outbreaks is growing. </narrative></description><participating-org type="21" role="1" ref="GB-CHC-285776" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL014"><narrative>Catholic Agency For Overseas Development (CAFOD)</narrative></participating-org><participating-org type="21" role="4" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL014"><narrative>Catholic Relief Services, Jerusalem</narrative></participating-org><other-identifier type="A1" ref="PAL014" /><activity-status code="3" /><activity-date type="2" iso-date="2014-08-06" /><activity-date type="3" iso-date="2014-11-04" /><contact-info><organisation><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></organisation><email>cafod@cafod.org.uk</email></contact-info><recipient-country code="PS" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="14030" percentage="100" /><policy-marker code="2" significance="2" /><default-flow-type code="30" /><default-finance-type code="110" /><default-aid-type code="C01" /><default-tied-status code="5" /><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2014-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2015-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2014-08-06">279493.9345</value></budget><transaction ref="45997"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2014-08-13" /><value value-date="2014-08-13">293501.1904</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-1-202669-PAL014"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="47466"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2014-08-13" /><value value-date="2014-08-13">-14007.2559</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-1-202669-PAL014"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="60001"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2014-08-21" /><value value-date="2014-08-13">293501.1900</value><receiver-org><narrative>Catholic Relief Services, Jerusalem</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="61313"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2015-07-20" /><value value-date="2014-08-13">-14007.2600</value><receiver-org><narrative>Catholic Relief Services, Jerusalem</narrative></receiver-org></transaction></iati-activity><iati-activity hierarchy="1" xml:lang="en" default-currency="GBP" last-updated-datetime="2026-06-01T00:00:00"><iati-identifier>GB-CHC-285776-PAL015</iati-identifier><reporting-org ref="GB-CHC-285776" type="21"><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></reporting-org><title><narrative>Protection, accountability, gender and mainstreaming support to CRS and IRPAL in Gaza</narrative></title><description><narrative>This project encompasses the CAFOD support element of the joint project being funded by Islamic Relief Worldwide and implemented by CRS and IRPAL in Gaza. This is a 5 month project, using Phase 1 project funds from DEC Gaza Crisis appeal 2014.  Through this project CRS will provide;

-240 conflict affected farming households with vouchers for agricultural inputs, as well as support for land rehabilitation.
-105 vulnerable, conflict-affected households with cash, through cash for work activities.

The combination of airstrikes, naval bombardment and mortar shells caused significant loss of life and physical damage, including extensive damage to infrastructure and housing. At the height of the conflict, over 500,000 people fled from their homes to seek refuge in relatively safer areas. The majority were able to return home, though between 100,000 and 132,000 IDPs were still in need of housing as of November 2014. Many others are living with host families creating great strain on already limited resources.

CAFOD's partner Catholic Relief Services has identified that displaced households urgently need safe and stable transitional housing solutions. These households need a dignified interim solution to enable them to plan and start long-term recovery. This project will address the temporary needs of shelter which have been largely unaddressed. The location of focus will be Khan Younis in Southern Gaza which experienced a high degree of destruction in the conflict. A pilot shelter project has already been undertaken by CRS where the community was able to participate in the design on the shelters. This design has also been authorised by the Shelter Cluster in Gaza.

This is a six month project which will provide 54 shelters to Gazan families. Conflict affected individuals in Gaza will participate in transitional shelter construction activities in a cash for work programme. This project will use Phase 2 funds from the DEC Gaza Crisis Appeal 2014, supplemented will a small amount from CAFOD appeal funds.

It aims to contribute to improving the health and psychosocial situation of children in Gaza strip after the war in Gaza in the summer of 2014.

OPE was the 3rd Gaza war in 6 years, it lasted 7 weeks and was the deadliest with more than 2000 Palestinians killed, among them over 500 children. Whole neighbourhoods were reduced to rubble and a year later due to the on-going restrictions on construction materials, not a single destroyed home had been rebuilt. Even before OPE, the UN had warned that Gaza would be 'unliveable' by 2020 due to successive conflicts and years of restrictions on development and reconstruction. OPE has caused the most acute humanitarian crisis in Gaza in the last 50 years. Around 100,000 people are still living without adequate shelter. Vital water and sanitation infrastructure, schools and health facilities also urgently need rebuilding. More than 70% of the population is food insecure or vulnerable to food insecurity.

The needs analysis conducted by Caritas Jerusalem identified the health/psychosocial field as the focus for this second phase response, which will provide:
 - health screening for 3500 children;
 - 72,000 meals for children identified as suffering from anaemia;
 - counselling sessions for 1000 children;
 - group psychosocial activities for 6000 children;
 - rehabilitation of child-friendly spaces in 10 districts.

Young people are also increasingly vulnerable to recruitment by extremist groups. This on-going threat exacerbates existing social problems and further hampers young people's involvement in community development.

This project aims to counter the marginalisation of vulnerable young people and offers an active role in community peace building initiatives as an alternative to violence and extremism. It will take place in Bethlehem, Hebron and surrounding areas, including the refugee camps of AZA, AIDA and DEHESHA. The project will:
-	Empower 40 young people and build their capacity in conflict transformation, peace building and leadership skills.

Since 2014 the ARO, based at QP&amp;SW has provided the support needed for ecumenical partners to take advocacy forwards with their own constituents/ organisations.

The EAPPI programme has been able to engage in increased parliamentary advocacy since the establishment of the ARO role. Eye witness accounts and blogs serve as the basis for building case studies and reports to send monitoring information to decision makers.

This project is to provide funds (£30,591) for the role until March 2017. Without these funds, the ARO post will cease to exist as of the end of March 2016. Funding uncertainty will also inevitably mean that the current post holder may leave even earlier and her valuable expertise will be lost to the programme.

This project aims to integrate inter-faith religious and civic education into school curricula in 30 schools and student groups in the West Bank, half in Bethlehem and half in Ramallah. The schools comprise 17 private schools, the partner-own youth group, and 12 Palestinian government schools. It should be noted that student bodies in the government schools are overwhelmingly Muslim, while in the private schools they are on average 60% Muslim/ 40% Christian. In each school both a Muslim and a Christian religious education or civics teacher are involved in the project, and in most schools one class (ie year group) but in a few schools more than one. The age range of the students is 14-17. Activities include lessons (with drama and discussion), school excursions to holy places, joint religious celebrations, teacher workshops and guest lectures.</narrative></description><participating-org type="21" role="1" ref="GB-CHC-285776" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL021"><narrative>Catholic Agency For Overseas Development (CAFOD)</narrative></participating-org><participating-org type="23" role="4" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL021"><narrative>Arab Educational Institute</narrative></participating-org><other-identifier type="A1" ref="PAL021" /><activity-status code="3" /><activity-date type="2" iso-date="2016-01-01" /><activity-date type="3" iso-date="2016-12-31" /><contact-info><organisation><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></organisation><email>cafod@cafod.org.uk</email></contact-info><recipient-country code="PS" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="11330" percentage="100" /><policy-marker code="2" significance="2" /><default-flow-type code="30" /><default-finance-type code="110" /><default-aid-type code="C01" /><default-tied-status code="5" /><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2015-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2016-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2016-01-01">25337.8378</value></budget><transaction ref="47806"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2016-02-01" /><value value-date="2016-02-01">25337.8378</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-1-202669-PAL021"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="62005"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2016-02-19" /><value value-date="2016-02-01">25337.8400</value><receiver-org><narrative>Arab Educational Institute</narrative></receiver-org></transaction></iati-activity><iati-activity hierarchy="1" xml:lang="en" default-currency="GBP" last-updated-datetime="2026-06-01T00:00:00"><iati-identifier>GB-CHC-285776-PAL023</iati-identifier><reporting-org ref="GB-CHC-285776" type="21"><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></reporting-org><title><narrative>Youth Engagement in Gaza</narrative></title><description><narrative>Khan Younis (the main target area for this intervention) was one of the worst affected areas by the 2014 war. All its eastern villages were displaced and thousands of houses were destroyed.

Almost 18 months later since the ceasefire and there is still very little official information available about the current situation of young people following the attack. However, in CFTA’s experience it s clear that the impact has been severe. The unemployment rate amongst young people is considered to be the highest in the world, reaching around 70% in 2015. Increasingly, young people are seeking to leave the Gaza strip in search of higher education and employment. At the sociocultural level, the political division, poverty and lack of cultural and recreational spaces and activities has resulted in increased conservatism, a decrease in female participation and a lack of freedom of expression.

CFTA experience shows that when young people are given the space and resources and guidance , there are still opportunities for creative initiatives by young people to ensure better engagement. CFTA’s main strategy is to invest in the available energy, skills, time and resources of young people for better change in the society at large.

This project will support
 - 40 young people to implement initiatives within their communities
 - The upgrading of studio and radio equipment in order to ensure youth engagement and the on-going quality of youth broadcasts
 - the engagement of 400 young people in their advocacy and community activities

Quaker Peace &amp; Social Witness (QPSW) co-ordinates EAPPI in the UK and Ireland. Each year a number of Ecumenical Accompaniers (EAs) from Britain and Ireland are recruited and given training in non-violence, personal safety, and how to document human rights abuses. They then serve in Israel-Palestine for three months. Their presence provides some protection to vulnerable communities, and while in post they do what they can to monitor and report human rights abuses, and support Palestinians and Israelis working together for peace. A large part of their work is just to enable people to go about the daily routines of everyday life without disruption: hold-ups and lengthy delays at checkpoints apply even to patients going to hospital and teachers travelling to schools, but the intervention of an EA can often resolve the difficulty. On their return to this country the EAs undertake speaking tours to give a first-hand account of their experiences, and to advocate a just and peaceful resolution to the Israeli/ Palestinian conflict through an end to the occupation, respect for international law, and implementation of UN resolutions. </narrative></description><participating-org type="21" role="1" ref="GB-CHC-285776" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL029"><narrative>Catholic Agency For Overseas Development (CAFOD)</narrative></participating-org><participating-org type="21" role="4" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL029"><narrative>Quaker Peace and Social Witness</narrative></participating-org><other-identifier type="A1" ref="PAL029" /><activity-status code="3" /><activity-date type="2" iso-date="2017-01-01" /><activity-date type="3" iso-date="2020-12-31" /><contact-info><organisation><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></organisation><email>cafod@cafod.org.uk</email></contact-info><recipient-country code="PS" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="15220" percentage="100" /><policy-marker code="2" significance="2" /><default-flow-type code="30" /><default-finance-type code="110" /><default-aid-type code="C01" /><default-tied-status code="5" /><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2016-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2017-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2017-01-01">30000.0000</value></budget><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2017-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2018-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2018-01-01">25000.0000</value></budget><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2018-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2019-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2019-01-01">25000.0000</value></budget><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2019-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2020-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2020-01-01">25000.0000</value></budget><transaction ref="49428"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2017-02-19" /><value value-date="2017-02-19">30000.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL029"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="50917"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2018-04-12" /><value value-date="2018-04-12">25000.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL029"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="52003"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2019-04-29" /><value value-date="2019-04-29">25000.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL029"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="53851"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2020-03-04" /><value value-date="2020-03-04">25000.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL029"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="63338"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2017-03-01" /><value value-date="2017-02-19">30000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Quaker Peace and Social Witness</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="65109"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2018-05-10" /><value value-date="2018-04-12">25000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Quaker Peace and Social Witness</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="66421"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2019-05-23" /><value value-date="2019-04-29">25000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Quaker Peace and Social Witness</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="68317"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2020-04-01" /><value value-date="2020-03-04">12500.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Quaker Peace and Social Witness</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="68796"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2020-09-16" /><value value-date="2020-03-04">12500.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Quaker Peace and Social Witness</narrative></receiver-org></transaction></iati-activity><iati-activity hierarchy="1" xml:lang="en" default-currency="GBP" last-updated-datetime="2026-06-01T00:00:00"><iati-identifier>GB-CHC-285776-PAL030</iati-identifier><reporting-org ref="GB-CHC-285776" type="21"><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></reporting-org><title><narrative>Consultancy for JLAC visit </narrative></title><description><narrative>CAFOD’s partner, Jerusalem Legal Aid Centre (JLAC), has obtained EU funding for its project “Protection of Marginalised Palestinian Communities in East Jerusalem and Area ‘C’ of the West Bank through Legal Aid, Outreach and Advocacy- 2015 – 18”. As co-applicant with JLAC, CAFOD is jointly responsible for Result 3: “EU and UK policy-makers encouraged to question human rights violations in I/oPt and align aid policy and political objectives with a commitment to IHL and IHRL, and social/financial/political support of the Palestinian Authority and local community toward marginalised target groups is increased”. Specifically, CAFOD will undertake advocacy work with the objective of achieving policy change at UK and EC levels. As a key advocacy activity, CAFOD will host the visit of two staff members of JLAC to the UK and Brussels during 10 days in January 2017. The visit will be accompanied with a photo exhibition. While in the UK, JLAC will meet officials from the FCO and DfID; MPs in Parliament and the House of Lords courtesy of CAFOD’s Parliamentary Friends Group; and meet CAFOD supporter groups in 2-3 dioceses in England and Wales. While in Brussels, JLAC will meet officials from relevant EU institutions and with MEPs. It is anticipated that Broederlijk Delen, co-member of the CIDSE Working Group with CAFOD, will assist with advice and contacts for this part of JLAC’s visit. The consultant will provide support to the logistics and administration for the visit, and to the communications and media work.</narrative></description><participating-org type="21" role="1" ref="GB-CHC-285776" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL030"><narrative>Catholic Agency For Overseas Development (CAFOD)</narrative></participating-org><participating-org role="4" ref="GB-CHC-285776" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL030"><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></participating-org><other-identifier type="A1" ref="PAL030" /><activity-status code="3" /><activity-date type="2" iso-date="2016-11-07" /><activity-date type="3" iso-date="2017-02-28" /><contact-info><organisation><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></organisation><email>cafod@cafod.org.uk</email></contact-info><recipient-country code="PS" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="15130" percentage="30" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="15160" percentage="40" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="43040" percentage="30" /><policy-marker code="2" significance="2" /><default-flow-type code="30" /><default-finance-type code="110" /><default-aid-type code="C01" /><default-tied-status code="5" /><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2016-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2017-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2016-11-07">650.0000</value></budget><transaction ref="49272"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2017-01-04" /><value value-date="2017-01-04">650.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL030"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction></iati-activity><iati-activity hierarchy="1" xml:lang="en" default-currency="GBP" last-updated-datetime="2026-06-01T00:00:00"><iati-identifier>GB-CHC-285776-PAL031</iati-identifier><reporting-org ref="GB-CHC-285776" type="21"><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></reporting-org><title><narrative>Legal assistance for Palestinians co-financing component</narrative></title><description><narrative>This is the contribution committed by CAFOD as part of an agreement with the EU which is currently providing funding to this longstanding CAFOD partner for its core programme of providing legal assistance to marginalised Palestinians. Almost two thirds of Palestinian youth are unemployed and nearly half are classified as poor. Economic opportunities for young people are limited, rendering them dependent on their families and with limited potential to be a powerful force for change as negative social and cultural values also impede their participation in decision making processes. Additionally, the closure of Gaza restricts the ability of Gazan youth to access resources for their own development. As a result, there is a risk that the frustration felt by youth due to this marginalisation and oppression will be manifested through violence and disorder. For these reasons, youth engagement and empowerment are essential to increase skills and confidence, boost involvement in the community and to contribute to the attainment of youth goals.

This project aims at providing safe spheres of engagement for talented youth from vulnerable areas in the south of the Gaza strip and supports the role of youth in social development through uniting diverse groups of talented people and engaging them in community initiatives with a focus on the issue of justice and human rights in the Palestinian community.  </narrative></description><participating-org type="21" role="1" ref="GB-CHC-285776" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL033"><narrative>Catholic Agency For Overseas Development (CAFOD)</narrative></participating-org><participating-org type="23" role="4" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL033"><narrative>Culture and Free Thought Association</narrative></participating-org><other-identifier type="A1" ref="PAL033" /><activity-status code="3" /><activity-date type="2" iso-date="2017-07-01" /><activity-date type="3" iso-date="2019-12-31" /><contact-info><organisation><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></organisation><email>cafod@cafod.org.uk</email></contact-info><recipient-country code="PS" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="12340" percentage="50" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="15220" percentage="50" /><policy-marker code="2" significance="2" /><default-flow-type code="30" /><default-finance-type code="110" /><default-aid-type code="C01" /><default-tied-status code="5" /><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2017-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2018-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2017-07-01">103261.8800</value></budget><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2018-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2019-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2019-01-01">50000.0000</value></budget><transaction ref="49604"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2017-03-16" /><value value-date="2017-03-16">53261.8800</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL033"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="50404"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2018-01-12" /><value value-date="2018-01-12">45458.8100</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL033"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="50486"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2018-01-12" /><value value-date="2018-01-12">4541.1900</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL033"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="51604"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2019-01-25" /><value value-date="2019-01-25">50000.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL033"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="63619"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2017-04-24" /><value value-date="2017-03-16">53261.8800</value><receiver-org><narrative>Culture and Free Thought Association</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="64817"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2018-03-05" /><value value-date="2018-01-12">50000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Culture and Free Thought Association</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="66036"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2019-02-04" /><value value-date="2019-01-25">50000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Culture and Free Thought Association</narrative></receiver-org></transaction></iati-activity><iati-activity hierarchy="1" xml:lang="en" default-currency="GBP" last-updated-datetime="2026-06-01T00:00:00"><iati-identifier>GB-CHC-285776-PAL034</iati-identifier><reporting-org ref="GB-CHC-285776" type="21"><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></reporting-org><title><narrative>CIDSE Policy Officer for occupied Palestinian territory and Israel</narrative></title><description><narrative>CAFOD is a member of CIDSE, an international alliance of Catholic development agencies, and – together with CIDSE member organisations in Belgium, Netherlands, France, Germany and Ireland – is involved in a working group which acts as a forum for information exchange, policy analysis, and joint advocacy in support of a just peace for Israelis and Palestinians based on the applicable standards of international law. It also includes lobbying in support of the EU’s existing commitment to a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and to the establishment of an independent, democratic and viable Palestinian state living side by side in peace and security with Israel and its neighbours.</narrative></description><participating-org type="21" role="1" ref="GB-CHC-285776" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL034"><narrative>Catholic Agency For Overseas Development (CAFOD)</narrative></participating-org><participating-org type="21" role="4" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL034"><narrative>Broederlijk Delen</narrative></participating-org><other-identifier type="A1" ref="PAL034" /><activity-status code="3" /><activity-date type="2" iso-date="2018-01-01" /><activity-date type="3" iso-date="2020-12-31" /><contact-info><organisation><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></organisation><email>cafod@cafod.org.uk</email></contact-info><recipient-country code="PS" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="15130" percentage="100" /><policy-marker code="2" significance="2" /><default-flow-type code="30" /><default-finance-type code="110" /><default-aid-type code="C01" /><default-tied-status code="5" /><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2017-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2018-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2018-01-01">12000.0000</value></budget><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2018-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2019-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2019-01-01">13043.4782</value></budget><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2019-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2020-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2020-01-01">10000.0000</value></budget><transaction ref="50231"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2017-11-07" /><value value-date="2017-11-07">12000.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL034"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="51706"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2019-02-25" /><value value-date="2019-02-25">13043.4782</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL034"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="52612"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2020-02-17" /><value value-date="2020-02-17">10000.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL034"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="64402"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2017-11-20" /><value value-date="2017-11-07">12000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Broederlijk Delen</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="66737"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2019-09-19" /><value value-date="2019-02-25">13043.4800</value><receiver-org><narrative>Broederlijk Delen</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="68783"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2020-09-02" /><value value-date="2020-02-17">10000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Broederlijk Delen</narrative></receiver-org></transaction></iati-activity><iati-activity hierarchy="1" xml:lang="en" default-currency="GBP" last-updated-datetime="2026-06-01T00:00:00"><iati-identifier>GB-CHC-285776-PAL035</iati-identifier><reporting-org ref="GB-CHC-285776" type="21"><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></reporting-org><title><narrative>Empowering youth as agents of peacebuilding </narrative></title><description><narrative>In the absence of positive political and economic prospects in Palestine, disenfranchised young people who feel marginalised by the dominant political groups and community leaders are more likely to participate in violent conflict. Young people are also increasingly vulnerable to recruitment by extremist groups.  This on-going threat exacerbates existing social problems and further hampers young people's involvement in community development.

This project builds on a previous two-year Phase 1 in which 40 young people aged 18-25 followed a process of empowerment and building of capacity in conflict transformation, peace-building and leadership skills, with 30 community elders providing them with mentoring and support, and involving them in community mediation. In Phase 2 opportunities will be created for the 40 young people to be a driving force and creating youth-friendly spaces in three locations, and together with 20 elders become established as a reference group active in conflict prevention and in peace-building and mediation initiatives to transform community conflicts.</narrative></description><participating-org type="21" role="1" ref="GB-CHC-285776" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL035"><narrative>Catholic Agency For Overseas Development (CAFOD)</narrative></participating-org><participating-org type="22" role="4" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL035"><narrative>Wi'am: Palestinian Conflict Resolution Center</narrative></participating-org><other-identifier type="A1" ref="PAL035" /><activity-status code="3" /><activity-date type="2" iso-date="2018-02-01" /><activity-date type="3" iso-date="2020-01-31" /><contact-info><organisation><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></organisation><email>cafod@cafod.org.uk</email></contact-info><recipient-country code="PS" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="15220" percentage="100" /><policy-marker code="2" significance="2" /><default-flow-type code="30" /><default-finance-type code="110" /><default-aid-type code="C01" /><default-tied-status code="5" /><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2017-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2018-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2018-02-01">25284.0000</value></budget><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2018-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2019-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2019-02-01">25000.0000</value></budget><transaction ref="50575"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2018-02-26" /><value value-date="2018-02-26">284.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL035"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="50505"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2018-02-26" /><value value-date="2018-02-26">25000.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL035"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="51675"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2019-01-31" /><value value-date="2019-01-31">25000.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL035"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="64829"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2018-03-26" /><value value-date="2018-02-26">25284.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Wi'am: Palestinian Conflict Resolution Center</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="66042"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2019-02-06" /><value value-date="2019-01-31">25000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Wi'am: Palestinian Conflict Resolution Center</narrative></receiver-org></transaction></iati-activity><iati-activity hierarchy="1" xml:lang="en" default-currency="GBP" last-updated-datetime="2026-06-01T00:00:00"><iati-identifier>GB-CHC-285776-PAL041</iati-identifier><reporting-org ref="GB-CHC-285776" type="21"><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></reporting-org><title><narrative>Legal assistance for Palestinians</narrative></title><description><narrative>This project aims at improving the quality of life of Palestinian people through providing pro bono legal aid and advice to individuals and groups in cases of human rights violation either by Israel or the Palestinian authority. since 2007 and exposed to several major armed military offensives, and continues to suffer political unrest and conflict. Its almost 2 million residents are denied free access to the remainder of the territory and the outside world. There is a lack of basic services including electricity, clean water and health supplies. There is high unemployment in Gaza, with youth unemployment particularly worrying, especially amongst young women. For many young people, finding a job which pays the bills and allows the raising of a family is a distant dream.

This project will take place at the cultural centre of CFTA, which is perhaps the only space in the south of the Gaza strip where girls can participate in making positive changes at both personal and community level., and will create a convenient sphere of engagement for talented youth.  Activities will include skills development, life skills, awareness raising on human rights as well as the provision of equipment for the "youth incubator" - a hub for supporting young entrepreneurs to create job opportunities online. </narrative></description><participating-org type="21" role="1" ref="GB-CHC-285776" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL042"><narrative>Catholic Agency For Overseas Development (CAFOD)</narrative></participating-org><participating-org type="23" role="4" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL042"><narrative>Culture and Free Thought Association</narrative></participating-org><other-identifier type="A1" ref="PAL042" /><activity-status code="3" /><activity-date type="2" iso-date="2020-01-01" /><activity-date type="3" iso-date="2022-12-31" /><contact-info><organisation><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></organisation><email>cafod@cafod.org.uk</email></contact-info><recipient-country code="PS" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="11330" percentage="20" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="12340" percentage="20" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="15180" percentage="20" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="15220" percentage="20" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="32130" percentage="20" /><policy-marker code="2" significance="2" /><default-flow-type code="30" /><default-finance-type code="110" /><default-aid-type code="C01" /><default-tied-status code="5" /><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2019-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2020-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2020-01-01">50000.0000</value></budget><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2020-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2021-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2021-01-01">50000.0000</value></budget><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2021-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2022-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2022-01-01">50000.0000</value></budget><transaction ref="52558"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2019-12-17" /><value value-date="2019-12-17">50000.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL042"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="54472"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2020-11-27" /><value value-date="2020-11-27">50000.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL042"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="55498"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2021-12-15" /><value value-date="2021-12-15">50000.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL042"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="67040"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2020-01-07" /><value value-date="2019-12-17">50000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Culture and Free Thought Association</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="69210"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2021-01-05" /><value value-date="2020-11-27">25000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Culture and Free Thought Association</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="69554"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2021-04-19" /><value value-date="2020-11-27">12500.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Culture and Free Thought Association</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="69661"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2021-08-11" /><value value-date="2020-11-27">12500.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Culture and Free Thought Association</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="70348"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2021-12-21" /><value value-date="2021-12-15">50000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Culture and Free Thought Association</narrative></receiver-org></transaction></iati-activity><iati-activity hierarchy="1" xml:lang="en" default-currency="GBP" last-updated-datetime="2026-06-01T00:00:00"><iati-identifier>GB-CHC-285776-PAL047</iati-identifier><reporting-org ref="GB-CHC-285776" type="21"><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></reporting-org><title><narrative>Food and hygiene distributions for vulnerable families affected by COVID19</narrative></title><description><narrative>Due to the shutdown in the West Bank because of COVID-19 thousands of day labourers and other low-paid workers are unable to earn, and their families are suffering disproportionately as they have no savings, so have no money to buy food and maintain power and water. It also includes lobbying in support of the EU’s existing commitment to a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and to the establishment of an independent, democratic and viable Palestinian state living side by side in peace and security with Israel and its neighbours.</narrative></description><participating-org type="21" role="1" ref="GB-CHC-285776" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL049"><narrative>Catholic Agency For Overseas Development (CAFOD)</narrative></participating-org><participating-org type="21" role="4" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL049"><narrative>Broederlijk Delen</narrative></participating-org><other-identifier type="A1" ref="PAL049" /><activity-status code="3" /><activity-date type="2" iso-date="2021-01-01" /><activity-date type="3" iso-date="2023-12-31" /><contact-info><organisation><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></organisation><email>cafod@cafod.org.uk</email></contact-info><recipient-country code="PS" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="15130" percentage="100" /><policy-marker code="2" significance="2" /><default-flow-type code="30" /><default-finance-type code="110" /><default-aid-type code="C01" /><default-tied-status code="5" /><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2020-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2021-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2021-01-01">13000.0000</value></budget><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2021-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2022-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2022-01-01">13000.0000</value></budget><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2022-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2023-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2023-01-01">14892.1600</value></budget><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2023-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2024-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2023-12-15">1293.1034</value></budget><transaction ref="54562"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2020-12-04" /><value value-date="2020-12-04">13000.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL049"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="55557"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2022-01-07" /><value value-date="2022-01-07">13000.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL049"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="56593"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2023-03-13" /><value value-date="2023-03-13">14892.1600</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL049"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="57593"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2023-12-18" /><value value-date="2023-12-18">1293.1034</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL049"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="70208"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2021-11-15" /><value value-date="2020-12-04">13000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Broederlijk Delen</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="71573"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2022-11-30" /><value value-date="2022-01-07">13000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Broederlijk Delen</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="72154"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2023-05-15" /><value value-date="2023-03-13">1892.1600</value><receiver-org><narrative>Broederlijk Delen</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="72420"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2023-08-08" /><value value-date="2023-03-13">13000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Broederlijk Delen</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="72846"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2024-01-17" /><value value-date="2023-12-18">1293.1000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Broederlijk Delen</narrative></receiver-org></transaction></iati-activity><iati-activity hierarchy="1" xml:lang="en" default-currency="GBP" last-updated-datetime="2026-06-01T00:00:00"><iati-identifier>GB-CHC-285776-PAL050</iati-identifier><reporting-org ref="GB-CHC-285776" type="21"><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></reporting-org><title><narrative>Support to Caritas Jerusalem COVID-19 health care response in Gaza</narrative></title><description><narrative>There was an unprecedented surge in COVID-19 in the Gaza Strip in November and early December; active cases have doubled in the oPt overall and tripled in Gaza.  The delivery of essential routine health services continues to be affected by the pandemic. The health authorities in Gaza announced the closure of all public outpatient clinics and the temporary suspension of elective surgeries for two weeks on November 24, while maintaining urgent and life-saving surgeries only.

Therefore, preventive measures like social distancing, hygiene practices, hand hygiene, and strengthening the immune systems of vulnerable people, many of whom are food insecure are of paramount importance.

This project will provide medical care in the homes of people who have tested positive for Covid-19 and/or people who need emergency primary heath care. It will also provide nutritional supplements to help improve the immune systems of people at risk in poor, over-crowded and multi-generational homes. The project, coordinated by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with Caritas Jerusalem, is designed to prevent spread of the virus and relieve pressure on the under-resourced and overcrowded public hospitals. The five medical teams will visit homes and assess the possibility of keeping the infected isolated in their own homes. If their houses are not suited for isolation, Caritas Jerusalem will refer to MoH isolation centres. Caritas Jerusalem will also provide non-COVID-19 related primary health care e.g. dressing changes, provision of medication as necessary.

In addition, Caritas will give hygiene kits in order to keep the homes virus free as much as possible as well as distributing flyers to raise awareness and the Caritas Jerusalem hotline number for additional enquiries.

</narrative></description><participating-org type="21" role="1" ref="GB-CHC-285776" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL051"><narrative>Catholic Agency For Overseas Development (CAFOD)</narrative></participating-org><participating-org type="21" role="4" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL051"><narrative>Quaker Peace and Social Witness</narrative></participating-org><other-identifier type="A1" ref="PAL051" /><activity-status code="3" /><activity-date type="2" iso-date="2021-01-01" /><activity-date type="3" iso-date="2023-12-31" /><contact-info><organisation><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></organisation><email>cafod@cafod.org.uk</email></contact-info><recipient-country code="PS" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="15220" percentage="100" /><policy-marker code="2" significance="2" /><default-flow-type code="30" /><default-finance-type code="110" /><default-aid-type code="C01" /><default-tied-status code="5" /><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2020-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2021-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2021-01-01">20000.0000</value></budget><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2021-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2022-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2022-01-01">25000.0000</value></budget><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2022-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2023-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2023-01-01">25000.0000</value></budget><transaction ref="54971"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2021-04-19" /><value value-date="2021-04-19">20000.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL051"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="55755"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2022-03-01" /><value value-date="2022-03-01">25000.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL051"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="56568"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2023-02-28" /><value value-date="2023-02-28">25000.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL051"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="69600"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2021-05-10" /><value value-date="2021-04-19">10000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Quaker Peace and Social Witness</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="70050"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2021-09-23" /><value value-date="2021-04-19">10000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Quaker Peace and Social Witness</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="70659"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2022-03-28" /><value value-date="2022-03-01">25000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Quaker Peace and Social Witness</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="72101"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2023-04-27" /><value value-date="2023-02-28">25000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Quaker Peace and Social Witness</narrative></receiver-org></transaction></iati-activity><iati-activity hierarchy="1" xml:lang="en" default-currency="GBP" last-updated-datetime="2026-06-01T00:00:00"><iati-identifier>GB-CHC-285776-PAL052</iati-identifier><reporting-org ref="GB-CHC-285776" type="21"><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></reporting-org><title><narrative>Contribute to improving the health status of people in the aftermath of war in Gaza</narrative></title><description><narrative>Fatalities and casualties caused by a renewed round of violence in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict starting May 10, 2021 has resulted in 253 reported Gazan Palestinian fatalities including 66 children, 39 women and 17 elderly. Moreover, 1,948 Gazan Palestinians have been injured, (MoH, May 24, 2021); placing considerable strain on a health system already overwhelmed by the strains of the global COVID-19 pandemic. Most persons displaced during hostilities in the Gaza Strip are returning home but about 1,000 are homeless due to destruction of their homes. Health care has been affected by extensive damage and destruction to infrastructure including health facilities, lack of electricity and the scarcity of fuel for generators (resulting in the closure of a hospital providing essential care to cancer patients). Water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) infrastructure was also severely affected during the escalation, and according to the WASH Cluster, due to lack of power supply, three main desalination plants providing drinking water for more than 400,000 people have suspended operation and so have sewage treatment facilities. As a result more than 100,000 cubic metres of untreated or partially treated wastewater are being discharged to the sea daily. In total, an estimated 800,000 people lack regular access to piped water (OCHA, May 20, 2021).

Caritas Jerusalem reopened its main clinic in Gaza City as soon as a ceasefire allowed safe resumption of activity, and can deploy 5 mobile medical teams each with 2 doctors (1 m/ 1 f), 2 nurses, a pharmacist, lab technician and health educator to provide health services in Beit Hanoun, Beit Lahia, Al Shijaea, Al Bureij refugee camp and Beach camp (all in North and East of the Gaza Strip which was particularly heavily impacted). Teams will receive upgraded training on management of mass casualties, basic emergency care, trauma management and infection prevention and control in order to provide a wide range of primary health services to sick children, older people and those with disabilities or chronic conditions, expectant mothers and others, also first aid to injured, and COVID-19 awareness with delivery of hygiene kits and PPE.

Vaccine is in short supply and under 100,000 have been vaccinated in a population of over 2 million.  The only laboratory for COVID testing was hit and damaged during the recent airstrikes (May 2021).  Minimising infection rates, especially for the most vulnerable, is therefore crucial, and more effort is needed to combat misinformation and to facilitate the vaccination process. Trained health workers will therefore conduct 200 awareness workshops with distribution of hygiene kits, targeting 1,200 children aged 6-16 (as likely carriers), 800 men and 1,000 women including adults who are older or have disabilities.  Information will also be disseminated to a wider audience using social media and radio messages via CFTA’s own internet-based radio.  Most awareness-raising work fails to address issues like stigma and personal hygiene – issues which this initiative will make sure to cover.</narrative></description><participating-org type="21" role="1" ref="GB-CHC-285776" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL053"><narrative>Catholic Agency For Overseas Development (CAFOD)</narrative></participating-org><participating-org type="23" role="4" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL053"><narrative>Culture and Free Thought Association</narrative></participating-org><other-identifier type="A1" ref="PAL053" /><activity-status code="3" /><activity-date type="2" iso-date="2021-08-15" /><activity-date type="3" iso-date="2022-02-28" /><contact-info><organisation><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></organisation><email>cafod@cafod.org.uk</email></contact-info><recipient-country code="PS" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="12220" percentage="100" /><policy-marker code="2" significance="2" /><default-flow-type code="30" /><default-finance-type code="110" /><default-aid-type code="C01" /><default-tied-status code="5" /><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2021-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2022-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2021-08-15">29663.3093</value></budget><transaction ref="55234"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2021-08-11" /><value value-date="2021-08-11">29663.3093</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL053"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="69932"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2021-08-11" /><value value-date="2021-08-11">29663.3100</value><receiver-org><narrative>Culture and Free Thought Association</narrative></receiver-org></transaction></iati-activity><iati-activity hierarchy="1" xml:lang="en" default-currency="GBP" last-updated-datetime="2026-06-01T00:00:00"><iati-identifier>GB-CHC-285776-PAL054</iati-identifier><reporting-org ref="GB-CHC-285776" type="21"><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></reporting-org><title><narrative>Citizenship and Diversity and documentation project</narrative></title><description><narrative>Citizenship and Diversity aims to integrate inter-faith religious and civic education into school curricula in 30 schools and student groups in the West Bank, half in Bethlehem and half in Ramallah. Additionally, all full-time AEI staff will spend time during the month of August 2021 creating an orderly documentation of AEI's audio-visual and textual resources promoting the values of peace, sumud (steadfastness), citizenship and Christian-Muslim living together with a special focus on Palestinian young people and women.</narrative></description><participating-org type="21" role="1" ref="GB-CHC-285776" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL054"><narrative>Catholic Agency For Overseas Development (CAFOD)</narrative></participating-org><participating-org type="23" role="4" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL054"><narrative>Arab Educational Institute</narrative></participating-org><other-identifier type="A1" ref="PAL054" /><activity-status code="3" /><activity-date type="2" iso-date="2021-08-01" /><activity-date type="3" iso-date="2023-08-31" /><contact-info><organisation><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></organisation><email>cafod@cafod.org.uk</email></contact-info><recipient-country code="PS" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="15220" percentage="100" /><policy-marker code="2" significance="2" /><default-flow-type code="30" /><default-finance-type code="110" /><default-aid-type code="C01" /><default-tied-status code="5" /><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2021-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2022-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2021-08-01">30000.0000</value></budget><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2022-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2023-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2022-09-01">20000.0000</value></budget><transaction ref="55236"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2021-08-20" /><value value-date="2021-08-20">20000.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL054"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="55661"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2022-02-10" /><value value-date="2022-02-10">10000.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL054"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="56323"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2022-10-24" /><value value-date="2022-10-24">20000.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL054"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="69990"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2021-08-26" /><value value-date="2021-08-20">20000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Arab Educational Institute</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="70576"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2022-02-23" /><value value-date="2022-02-10">10000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Arab Educational Institute</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="71470"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2022-10-24" /><value value-date="2022-10-24">1479.2600</value><receiver-org><narrative>Arab Educational Institute</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="71517"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2022-11-16" /><value value-date="2022-10-24">18520.7400</value><receiver-org><narrative>Arab Educational Institute</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="71621"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2022-12-14" /><value value-date="2022-10-24">-18520.7400</value><receiver-org><narrative>Arab Educational Institute</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="71622"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2022-12-20" /><value value-date="2022-10-24">18520.7400</value><receiver-org><narrative>Arab Educational Institute</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="71691"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2023-01-12" /><value value-date="2022-10-24">-19012.4400</value><receiver-org><narrative>Arab Educational Institute</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="71712"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2023-01-19" /><value value-date="2022-10-24">19012.4400</value><receiver-org><narrative>Arab Educational Institute</narrative></receiver-org></transaction></iati-activity><iati-activity hierarchy="1" xml:lang="en" default-currency="GBP" last-updated-datetime="2026-06-01T00:00:00"><iati-identifier>GB-CHC-285776-PAL055</iati-identifier><reporting-org ref="GB-CHC-285776" type="21"><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></reporting-org><title><narrative>Primary healthcare and basic needs for conflict-affected population in Gaza Strip</narrative></title><description><narrative>The most severe escalation of hostilities against Gaza since 2014 took place 10-21 May 2021 with Israeli
forces carrying out over 1,500 air, land and sea strikes on Gaza. These resulted in significant loss of life and human suffering, and the humanitarian consequences have been devastating, exacerbating the impact of almost 14 years of an Israeli blockade and recurrent escalations. A health system already on the verge of collapse due to supply shortages was further overstretched to cope with COVID-19, and is now struggling to meet the needs of those injured during the hostilities. It should be noted that efforts to contain the pandemic have undermined the delivery of other essential healthcare services as healthcare centres were converted into quarantine and isolation centres and some 400 doctors, nurses, and administrative staff mobilised to support their operation, and an estimated 64,000 people have been affected by the deprioritisation of treatment for non-communicable diseases and palliative care. Caritas Jerusalem will provide a wide range of health services (primary healthcare, maternal and child health, management of communicable and non-communicable diseases) and psychosocial support for traumatised individuals. Additionally 400 very poor and vulnerable families will be assisted through small cash transfers to enable them to meet other needs. </narrative></description><participating-org type="21" role="1" ref="GB-CHC-285776" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL055"><narrative>Catholic Agency For Overseas Development (CAFOD)</narrative></participating-org><participating-org type="22" role="4" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL055"><narrative>Caritas Jerusalem</narrative></participating-org><other-identifier type="A1" ref="PAL055" /><activity-status code="3" /><activity-date type="2" iso-date="2021-08-23" /><activity-date type="3" iso-date="2022-04-30" /><contact-info><organisation><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></organisation><email>cafod@cafod.org.uk</email></contact-info><recipient-country code="PS" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="12220" percentage="80" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="72010" percentage="20" /><policy-marker code="2" significance="2" /><default-flow-type code="30" /><default-finance-type code="110" /><default-aid-type code="C01" /><default-tied-status code="5" /><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2021-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2022-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2021-08-23">29914.5299</value></budget><transaction ref="55284"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2021-08-31" /><value value-date="2021-08-31">29914.5299</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL055"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="70008"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2021-09-06" /><value value-date="2021-08-31">29914.5300</value><receiver-org><narrative>Caritas Jerusalem</narrative></receiver-org></transaction></iati-activity><iati-activity hierarchy="1" xml:lang="en" default-currency="GBP" last-updated-datetime="2026-06-01T00:00:00"><iati-identifier>GB-CHC-285776-PAL056</iati-identifier><reporting-org ref="GB-CHC-285776" type="21"><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></reporting-org><title><narrative>Legal assistance for Palestinians</narrative></title><description><narrative>This project aims at improving the quality of life of Palestinian people through providing pro bono legal aid and advice to individuals and groups in cases of human rights violation either by Israel or the Palestinian authority. situation in Gaza presents an ongoing humanitarian emergency. The population of the overcrowded enclave has extremely high rates of poverty and unemployment, with a high incidence of injuries, chronic health problems and psychological distress. Its health service is vastly overstretched while at the same time burdened with shortages of medical supplies and fuel/ electricity. All these problems have been further intensified by periodic escalations of conflict - in particular that of May 2021 which caused major infrastructural damage - at a time when the Gaza health system has also been having to struggle with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The West Bank and Gaza has experienced a fourth wave of COVID-19 starting in January 2022 and peaking in February, and although reported cases declined rapidly after February this was noted to coincide with a drop in testing. As of June 2022 the number of cases in West Bank and Gaza stood at 660,000. In view of the underlying acute vulnerability of Gaza, the maintenance of satisfactory levels of health among the population generally should be seen as a high priority in supporting the process of recovery from the pandemic.

Crucial support will be delivered by Caritas Jerusalem through provision of a wide range of health services (primary healthcare, maternal and child health, management of communicable and non-communicable diseases along with health and nutrition education) to 7,400 patients. Approximately 450 of the patients presenting are expected to need referral for more advanced care: an estimated 200 will receive ENT, Eye and cardiology consultations from the Caritas team (due to their otherwise having to join very long waiting lists) and 250 treatment for Long COVID comprising symptomatic relief, breathing exercises and psychosocial support. </narrative></description><participating-org type="21" role="1" ref="GB-CHC-285776" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL057"><narrative>Catholic Agency For Overseas Development (CAFOD)</narrative></participating-org><participating-org type="22" role="4" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL057"><narrative>Caritas Jerusalem</narrative></participating-org><other-identifier type="A1" ref="PAL057" /><activity-status code="3" /><activity-date type="2" iso-date="2022-06-01" /><activity-date type="3" iso-date="2023-02-28" /><contact-info><organisation><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></organisation><email>cafod@cafod.org.uk</email></contact-info><recipient-country code="PS" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="12220" percentage="100" /><policy-marker code="2" significance="2" /><default-flow-type code="30" /><default-finance-type code="110" /><default-aid-type code="C01" /><default-tied-status code="5" /><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2022-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2023-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2022-06-01">50000.0000</value></budget><transaction ref="56199"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2022-08-19" /><value value-date="2022-08-19">50000.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL057"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="71293"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2022-09-02" /><value value-date="2022-08-19">50000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Caritas Jerusalem</narrative></receiver-org></transaction></iati-activity><iati-activity hierarchy="1" xml:lang="en" default-currency="GBP" last-updated-datetime="2026-06-01T00:00:00"><iati-identifier>GB-CHC-285776-PAL058</iati-identifier><reporting-org ref="GB-CHC-285776" type="21"><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></reporting-org><title><narrative>Strengthening civic peace initiatives of Palestinian youth inspired by integral ecology approach</narrative></title><description><narrative>The impact of the long running occupation, compounded by the COVID-19 pandemic has left deep scars in Palestinian communities on the West Bank. The economy, especially tourism, has been greatly affected. Public life has increasingly become characterized by a lack of law and order, a decline of values, a surge in violence against women, and, given the lack of a viable peace process, a pervading sense of hopelessness and despair, particularly amongst young people. The ongoing Israeli occupation and creeping annexation as a result of the expansion of settlements and the taking over of area C in the West Bank has a great impact on many people’s livelihoods. In this context, developing integrated advocacy capacities among disadvantaged Palestinian groups has become more important. AEI and CAFOD implemented a 3-year EU Peacebuilding Initiative funded project between 2017-2020 focussed on equipping and empowering youth to become leaders in their communities, agents for positive change despite the prevailing political realities and supported them to design and implement advocacy initiatives in their local communities. This project will build on key elements of this including the piloting and strengthening of innovative tools for monitoring impact. The project will explore the concept of ‘encounter’ between Christians and Muslims and between rural and urban Palestinian communities in order to overcome the imposed fragmentation that hinders local level peace. The project will test and develop M&amp;E tools for peacebuilding and will also look at the role of the environment in advocacy messages and how to protect Palestinian land against encroaching Israeli settlements. The project will pilot educational ‘tourism’ led by its youth participants – an innovative approach inspired by the previous EU project.</narrative></description><participating-org type="21" role="1" ref="GB-CHC-285776" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL058"><narrative>Catholic Agency For Overseas Development (CAFOD)</narrative></participating-org><participating-org type="23" role="4" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL058"><narrative>Arab Educational Institute</narrative></participating-org><other-identifier type="A1" ref="PAL058" /><activity-status code="3" /><activity-date type="2" iso-date="2022-11-01" /><activity-date type="3" iso-date="2024-10-31" /><contact-info><organisation><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></organisation><email>cafod@cafod.org.uk</email></contact-info><recipient-country code="PS" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="15220" percentage="100" /><policy-marker code="2" significance="2" /><default-flow-type code="30" /><default-finance-type code="110" /><default-aid-type code="C01" /><default-tied-status code="5" /><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2022-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2023-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2022-12-01">20000.0000</value></budget><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2023-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2024-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2024-01-01">20000.0000</value></budget><transaction ref="56576"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2023-02-10" /><value value-date="2023-02-10">20000.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL058"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="57592"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2024-03-05" /><value value-date="2024-03-05">20000.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL058"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="71831"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2023-03-01" /><value value-date="2023-02-10">20000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Arab Educational Institute</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="71894"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2023-03-08" /><value value-date="2023-02-10">-20000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Arab Educational Institute</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="71898"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2023-03-08" /><value value-date="2023-02-10">20000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Arab Educational Institute</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="73174"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2024-04-08" /><value value-date="2024-03-05">20000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Arab Educational Institute</narrative></receiver-org></transaction></iati-activity><iati-activity hierarchy="1" xml:lang="en" default-currency="GBP" last-updated-datetime="2026-06-01T00:00:00"><iati-identifier>GB-CHC-285776-PAL060</iati-identifier><reporting-org ref="GB-CHC-285776" type="21"><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></reporting-org><title><narrative>Youth Empowerment in Gaza</narrative></title><description><narrative>The Gaza strip has been subjected to a severe closure since 2007 and exposed to several major armed military offensives, and continues to suffer political unrest and conflict. This project will take place at the cultural centre of CFTA, which is perhaps the only space in the south of the Gaza strip where girls can participate in making positive changes at both personal and community level, and will create a platform for talented youth to engage in art, music, journalism as well as learning skills for employment and advocacy as well as awareness raising on human rights. </narrative></description><participating-org type="21" role="1" ref="GB-CHC-285776" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL060"><narrative>Catholic Agency For Overseas Development (CAFOD)</narrative></participating-org><participating-org type="23" role="4" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL060"><narrative>Culture and Free Thought Association</narrative></participating-org><other-identifier type="A1" ref="PAL060" /><activity-status code="3" /><activity-date type="2" iso-date="2023-01-01" /><activity-date type="3" iso-date="2025-12-31" /><contact-info><organisation><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></organisation><email>cafod@cafod.org.uk</email></contact-info><recipient-country code="PS" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="11330" percentage="20" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="12340" percentage="20" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="15180" percentage="20" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="15220" percentage="20" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="32130" percentage="20" /><policy-marker code="2" significance="2" /><default-flow-type code="30" /><default-finance-type code="110" /><default-aid-type code="C01" /><default-tied-status code="5" /><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2022-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2023-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2023-01-01">50000.0000</value></budget><transaction ref="56506"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2023-01-23" /><value value-date="2023-01-23">50000.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL060"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="71777"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2023-02-09" /><value value-date="2023-01-23">50000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Culture and Free Thought Association</narrative></receiver-org></transaction></iati-activity><iati-activity hierarchy="1" xml:lang="en" default-currency="GBP" last-updated-datetime="2026-06-01T00:00:00"><iati-identifier>GB-CHC-285776-PAL062</iati-identifier><reporting-org ref="GB-CHC-285776" type="21"><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></reporting-org><title><narrative>Emergency legal aid for Palestinians</narrative></title><description><narrative>This project aims to respond to the severe humanitarian needs among the Palestinian populations of the West Bank and East Jerusalem which have been exacerbated by the heightened tensions and a severe spike in instances of violence, demolitions, and military raids in the West Bank since the start of 2023. Israel responded declaring war and ordered an evacuation of Gaza. Heavy Israeli bombardments continue, which have killed 2,670 Palestinians and 9,600 have been injured (as of 16 October 2023). Over half a million people in Gaza are displaced, with attacks on evacuation routes and the Raffa crossing remaining closed. Gaza has had no electricity, pushing vital services, including health, water and sanitation to the brink of collapse and worsening food insecurity. There has also been a sharp increase in violence and settler-attacks in the West Bank making it the deadliest for West Bank Palestinians since OCHA began recording casualties in 2005.

A large part of their work is just to enable people to go about the daily routines of everyday life without disruption: hold-ups and lengthy delays at checkpoints apply - including to patients going to hospital and teachers travelling to schools. However, the intervention of an EA can often assuage some difficulties. On their return to this country the EAs undertake speaking tours to give a first-hand account of their experiences, and to advocate a just and peaceful resolution to the Israeli/ Palestinian conflict through an end to the occupation, respect for international law, and implementation of relevant UN resolutions. </narrative></description><participating-org type="21" role="1" ref="GB-CHC-285776" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL069"><narrative>Catholic Agency For Overseas Development (CAFOD)</narrative></participating-org><participating-org type="21" role="4" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL069"><narrative>Quaker Peace and Social Witness</narrative></participating-org><other-identifier type="A1" ref="PAL069" /><activity-status code="2" /><activity-date type="2" iso-date="2024-01-01" /><activity-date type="3" iso-date="2026-12-31" /><contact-info><organisation><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></organisation><email>cafod@cafod.org.uk</email></contact-info><recipient-country code="PS" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="15160" percentage="50" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="15220" percentage="50" /><policy-marker code="2" significance="2" /><default-flow-type code="30" /><default-finance-type code="110" /><default-aid-type code="C01" /><default-tied-status code="5" /><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2023-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2024-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2024-01-01">35575.0000</value></budget><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2024-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2025-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2025-01-01">35000.0000</value></budget><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2025-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2026-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2026-01-01">95000.0000</value></budget><transaction ref="58137"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2024-07-22" /><value value-date="2024-07-22">35575.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL069"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="59061"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2025-07-31" /><value value-date="2025-07-31">35000.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL069"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="60325"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2025-12-19" /><value value-date="2025-12-19">60000.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL069"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="60711"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2026-05-06" /><value value-date="2026-05-06">35000.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL069"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="73516"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2024-08-27" /><value value-date="2024-07-22">35575.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Quaker Peace and Social Witness</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="74577"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2025-09-15" /><value value-date="2025-07-31">35000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Quaker Peace and Social Witness</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="75869"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2026-01-23" /><value value-date="2025-12-19">60000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Quaker Peace and Social Witness</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="77274"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2026-05-13" /><value value-date="2026-05-06">35000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Quaker Peace and Social Witness</narrative></receiver-org></transaction></iati-activity><iati-activity hierarchy="1" xml:lang="en" default-currency="GBP" last-updated-datetime="2026-06-01T00:00:00"><iati-identifier>GB-CHC-285776-PAL072</iati-identifier><reporting-org ref="GB-CHC-285776" type="21"><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></reporting-org><title><narrative>AEI critical organisational support</narrative></title><description><narrative>AEI is currently implementing two programmes in the West Bank with CAFOD funding: an Early Warning Response System which aims to protect vulnerable residents by promoting civic peace at community level (PAL061); and a project which explores the role of the environment in peacebuilding initiatives whilst promoting a culture of encounter between young people from different faiths and communities (PAL058). It builds on CFTA’s revised organisational strategy, developed to adapt to the rapidly changing context and ensure a sustainable, community-driven response to both immediate emergencies and long-term recovery.

Recognising the increasing operational pressures on local organisations, the project addresses the urgent need to retain and support staff, strengthen preparedness and response mechanisms, and empower communities to drive change through targeted interventions.

Key Components:

Operational Support and Staff Wellbeing - Salaries and bonuses to ensure staff retention, provisions for psychological support and recreational activities for staff and support to volunteers e.g. through stipends and activities to practice skill development.

Emergency Preparedness and Response - Development of new preparedness and response plan, shelter specific SOPs and targeted emergency aid (e.g. food, community kitchens, NFIs, medical care)

Youth Empowerment - Activities to engage youth in advocacy, creativity, and skill-building, such as youth-led magazines, radio programs, and exhibitions. Technical training (e.g., photography, advocacy) alongside education on human rights and accountability.

Community Institutional Development - Focused on amplifying community voices to drive change, this strand includes supporting institutions, particularly Women-Led Organisations with campaigns at local, national and international levels.

By supporting the Grant and Research Officer position, the project will enable CJ to develop high-quality grant proposals, improve donor/partner compliance, conduct robust needs assessments, and strengthen evidence-based programming.

Sitting at the intersection of grants, compliance, and research &amp; monitoring, this role will ensure that CJ’s programmes are well-designed, data-driven, and aligned with grant requirements. The position will also contribute to better internal coordination, timely reporting, and improved funding success rates, ultimately enhancing the organisation’s sustainability.

By funding this role, CAFOD is investing in Caritas Jerusalem’s long-term capacity to lead and manage its humanitarian and development work effectively. This aligns with CAFOD’s broader commitment to strengthening local partners by supporting organisational development, reducing external dependency, and ensuring that humanitarian action is driven by those closest to the communities they serve.</narrative></description><participating-org type="21" role="1" ref="GB-CHC-285776" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL077"><narrative>Catholic Agency For Overseas Development (CAFOD)</narrative></participating-org><participating-org type="22" role="4" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL077"><narrative>Caritas Jerusalem</narrative></participating-org><other-identifier type="A1" ref="PAL077" /><activity-status code="2" /><activity-date type="2" iso-date="2025-02-10" /><activity-date type="3" iso-date="2026-02-09" /><contact-info><organisation><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></organisation><email>cafod@cafod.org.uk</email></contact-info><recipient-country code="PS" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="15150" percentage="80" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="15150" percentage="20" /><policy-marker code="2" significance="2" /><default-flow-type code="30" /><default-finance-type code="110" /><default-aid-type code="C01" /><default-tied-status code="5" /><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2024-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2025-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2025-02-10">26682.0000</value></budget><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2026-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2027-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2026-04-01">26633.0000</value></budget><transaction ref="58769"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2025-04-24" /><value value-date="2025-04-24">26682.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL077"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="74274"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2025-05-21" /><value value-date="2025-04-24">13341.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Caritas Jerusalem</narrative></receiver-org></transaction><transaction ref="75881"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2026-01-29" /><value value-date="2025-04-24">13341.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Caritas Jerusalem</narrative></receiver-org></transaction></iati-activity><iati-activity hierarchy="1" xml:lang="en" default-currency="GBP" last-updated-datetime="2026-06-01T00:00:00"><iati-identifier>GB-CHC-285776-PAL078</iati-identifier><reporting-org ref="GB-CHC-285776" type="21"><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></reporting-org><title><narrative>Advocacy for Endangered Areas in the Bethlehem Governorate</narrative></title><description><narrative>The project aims to protect endangered areas in Bethlehem from annexation and forced displacement. With a continued focus on MPCA, Phase 2 aims to support vulnerable households to meet their immediate and basic needs amid ongoing instability. The project will also maintain access to essential healthcare services, delivered through a primary site in Deir al Balah, ensuring continuity of care for displaced and affected populations.

This second phase is being launched in a highly challenging operational context. After a brief ceasefire in January 2025, hostilities resumed in mid-March, accompanied by a full blockade on humanitarian aid from early March, which remains in place as of April 2025. Infrastructure has been decimated, hospitals and schools destroyed, and tens of thousands killed or injured. Daily life is marked by constant trauma, loss of livelihoods, and widespread displacement. After the breakdown of a temporary ceasefire in early 2025, conditions deteriorated rapidly with widespread attacks and aid blockades that resulted in famine. Despite another ceasefire in October 2025, insufficient access has been given to humanitarian aid leaving families without sufficient food, clean water, or shelter. With health, protection, and basic services on the brink of collapse, the population faces extreme levels of suffering and a humanitarian crisis of historic proportions.

Against this backdrop, Caritas Jerusalem launched an Emergency Appeals in 2024, with support from CAFOD (PAL070), and 2025 to provide urgent assistance to some of the most vulnerable households in Gaza. The response focused on multi-purpose cash assistance (MPCA) to enable families to meet their most urgent needs, primary healthcare (PHC) to address critical medical gaps and sustain essential services, and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) to help communities cope with the trauma of conflict and displacement. Building on this foundation, the 2026 Emergency Appeal will prioritise: MPCA, PHC, MHPSS, and WASH as well as winterisation plans, responding to ongoing needs as the crisis continues to affect vulnerable communities.</narrative></description><participating-org type="21" role="1" ref="GB-CHC-285776" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL082"><narrative>Catholic Agency For Overseas Development (CAFOD)</narrative></participating-org><participating-org type="22" role="4" activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL082"><narrative>Caritas Jerusalem</narrative></participating-org><other-identifier type="A1" ref="PAL082" /><activity-status code="2" /><activity-date type="2" iso-date="2026-01-01" /><activity-date type="3" iso-date="2026-12-31" /><contact-info><organisation><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></organisation><email>cafod@cafod.org.uk</email></contact-info><recipient-country code="PS" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="12220" percentage="30" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="72010" percentage="30" /><sector vocabulary="1" code="72010" percentage="40" /><policy-marker code="2" significance="2" /><default-flow-type code="30" /><default-finance-type code="110" /><default-aid-type code="C01" /><default-tied-status code="5" /><budget type="1" status="1"><period-start iso-date="2025-04-01" /><period-end iso-date="2026-03-31" /><value currency="GBP" value-date="2026-01-01">150000.0000</value></budget><transaction ref="60310"><transaction-type code="1" /><transaction-date iso-date="2026-02-05" /><value value-date="2026-02-05">150000.0000</value><provider-org provider-activity-id="GB-CHC-285776-PAL082"><narrative>CAFOD General Funds</narrative></provider-org></transaction><transaction ref="75907"><transaction-type code="3" /><transaction-date iso-date="2026-02-19" /><value value-date="2026-02-05">75000.0000</value><receiver-org><narrative>Caritas Jerusalem</narrative></receiver-org></transaction></iati-activity><iati-activity hierarchy="1" xml:lang="en" default-currency="GBP" last-updated-datetime="2026-06-01T00:00:00"><iati-identifier>GB-CHC-285776-PAL086</iati-identifier><reporting-org ref="GB-CHC-285776" type="21"><narrative>CAFOD</narrative></reporting-org><title><narrative>Support to Caritas Jerusalem visit to the UK in October 2025</narrative></title><description><narrative>This grant is a contribution to the travel costs for Anton Asfar (Secretary General of Caritas Jerusalem) and Fr Elias Tabban's visit to the UK in October 2025.
